How To Clean An Oven Like a Professional

Cleaning the oven is definitely one of the most overlooked kitchen chores. But it no longer has to be. In this tutorial, you’ll learn how to clean your entire oven in less than 1 hour.

Why Should You Clean Your Oven?

While it may seem impossible to make time for oven cleaning, the importance of keeping it clean cannot be stressed enough. Not cleaning it can lead to health problems, as leftover food and grime can contaminate your food. Even if you only accidentally spilled a little bit of fat or grease, the food in the oven could be contaminated. Clean the oven frequently and regularly, and you can ensure that your oven stays safe for many years to come.

Materials

  • Drop sheet
  • Gloves
  • Cloth
  • Magic Sponge
  • Scourer and Sponge
  • Oven Cleaner
  • Glass cleaner
  • Protective Gear
  • Tub (optional)
  • Access to water

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the oven cleaning area

Before you begin, make sure that the oven has been fully shut off and cooled down. To make the process smoother, prepare all your equipment in front of you. Make sure that you are wearing protective equipment such as gloves, masks, and safety goggles during this process.

Step 2: Remove racks from the oven To help remove all the grease place your racks into a tub of water. If you have a sink, you can use make sure to place a rag on the bottom to prevent any scratching or dents from the rack. Using a large tub of water works too!

Your racks will just need a place to fully soak for around half an hour. Once you com back it’ll be nice and easy to clean.

Step 3: Prepare the oven

To jumpstart your oven cleaning process, turn your oven on for a few minutes. This will help loosen up any residue found inside and around your oven. Make sure the heat is set to a low setting so that you don’t accidentally burn yourself.

Once it’s been on for a few minutes spray the oven cleaner on all the surfaces of the oven. Let it sit on the surface for around half an hour to improve its effectiveness.

Step 4: Clean the racks Using a scourer and gloves, you can start scrubbing away all that grease and grime off the racks. You can do this in the tub of water to help wash away the rubble

Once you’re satisfied, use a clean cloth to wipe down the racks and sit it upright to dry.

Step 5: Clean the inside of the oven

Once times up, you can start whipping away the residue and chemicals. Using a soft cloth and dishwashing liquid you can remove any chemical residue or smell.

Step 6: Clean the oven door and the exterior

Use a separate or a new cloth to wipe the external over. Using a glass cloth and glass cleaner you can give your oven that little extra shine. You might also like to turn on the oven for a few minutes to burn off any chemical residue and smell.
