Organise a time for you and your spouse to make a list of what tasks you will each complete. Try to be as specific as possible, and outline when you want the tasks done. Be honest with one another about what you feel you can realistically achieve.
Life contains many ups and downs, some weeks are busy whilst others are more calm. There will be times where you don’t get everything done, and that is ok. Prioritise immediate chores which are essential to the function of the home, and leave the rest for when you have more time.
Quite often, arguments surrounding housework are really quarrels fuelled by frustrations rooted elsewhere. Stressors from work, the pressures of parenting or monetary worries can weigh heavily on us. Lending a helping hand to your partner when their stressors are high can go a long way in preventing fighting.
